Senior UMTS Mobile Testing Solution Development Engineer

Position Description:
This is a SW development position for Spirent's Mobile Device Test Division.Responsibilities include but are not limited to requirements analysis,creation of design specifications, and implementing complex software modules for Spirent's Wireless Test Systems. A deep understanding of underlying wireless technologies (WCDMA) is essential to success in this position. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well on a team. Candidates are expected to have strong leadership and good communication skill, in order to run a small engineering team and coordinate with foreign colleagues. This position is in Beijing. Please note this is a development engineer position, not testing engineer position.
Major Responsibilities:
1.Define wireless test solution, including requirements analysis and high level design. Analyze wireless standards from 3GPP, OMA and other technical forums.
2.Lead detailed design of test solution using well defined software practices and techniques.
3.Implement the test solution using combination of MS. Net technologies/languages, such as Visual Basic .NET and Visual C++ .NET. Troubleshoot complex technical problems which involve software and hardware systems.May include ability to utilize laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters,etc.
4.Execute unit test,integration test and system test of the implemented solution.
5.Create technical design documents, and source material for user documentation.
6.Interface with customers to help define product requirements and resolve technical issues.
7.Provide strong support to supervisor on daily project management,and act as communication bridge between local team and US team.
8.Provide technical guidance and motivation to team members.
9.Facilitate supervisor to recruit and train new hires.
Qualifications Desired:
Education:BSEE/BSCE required. MSEE/MSCE highly desired.
Experience:
-Master degree with minimal 4 years working experience and or internship, or bachelor degree with minimal 6 years working experience, in telecommunications industry.
-Rich R&D experience in international IT companies. Be good at working with global teams
-Hands-on experience in working within a structured software development environment that includes Requirements Analysis/Definition, Design, Defect Tracking,Configuration Management Software and Structure Testing.
Skills (Hardware,Software, Machine operations,etc.):
-Candidate shall have working knowledge of Microsoft Visual C++, C, Visual Basic, .NET (Windows), Windows application software design and implementation (DLLs, APIs,COM,etc.), and the methods required to develop/debug such software.
-R&D experience on communication systems, especially on 3G wireless technologies, and GPS is desired.
-Excellent design and problem solving skills are essential to this role.
-Excellent communication skill in English is required.
-Strong technical leadership is desired.
-Experience with object-oriented design and windows-based programming is desirable.
-Experience with software/hardware integration and debugging.
-Experience using basic laboratory test equipment such as spectrum analyzer,etc.

Position Description:
This is an intern position for Spirent's Mobile Device Test Division, UMTS market segment. Responsibilities include maintaining automatic building, installing and testing environment, implementing new test cases to expand test coverage, and potentially helping engineering team do manual regression test. This position is in Beijing. The internship will last about 5 months.
Major Responsibilities:
1.Attend training on the automatic building and testing framework.
2.Maintain the automatic building and testing framework, fix bugs and make minor enhancements with guidance from senior people.
3.Make detailed design of additional test cases for ULTS system.
4.Implement additional test cases, run unit test of them and integrate them into automatic testing framework.
5.Help engineering team do manual regression test.
6.Provide weekly status report to management.
Qualifications Desired:
Education:Master degree in CS or EE
College students pursing master degree with minimal 10 months internship or research work after taking courses.
Experience:
-R&D experience on communication systems, especially on 3G wireless technologies. Have good knowledge of network architecture, signaling protocols and process, especially air interface signaling protocols.
-Experience on developing windows-based application, especially within .NET framework.
Skills (Hardware, Software, Machine operations,etc.):
-In-depth knowledge of Modern Telecommunication System, especially wireless communication system.
-Proficient in at least one OO programming languages, such as C++/C#/VB.NET...

Responsibilities:
-Develop automated test framework or tool using a combination of scripting languages and higher layer languages
-Develop test scripts to exercise the TCL-library and user interface

Position Summary:
In this position,an experienced software developer will be responsible for a range of tasks using their skills in designing, developing,and sustaining OSI layer 2 to 7 protocol functionality for the TCP/IP protocol suite. The candidate uses their fluency in C++ and protocol development to diagnose and correct product defects as well as to define and implement new protocol features.
Because the product provides high-performance testing solutions,the candidate will use their experience in embedded software development to maintain the performance and reliability required by the marketplace. This ability comes from a system-wide perspective on software development.
